YO | Why? Oh...

A meaningful starting point is to initiate the inquiry by posing significant questions

YO is a method of experiential artistic expression, a healing process and a way to create appropriate spaces

It places its focus on in metacognition, self-regulation, sensation, holistic connection and metamorphosis

Stepping onto the stage is akin to embarking on a journey of limitless possibilities. The raw material we use: our soul and our emotion, constantly shifting in equilibrium…

Our soul is intricately woven into everything we undertake; it's the facet of our being that craves knowledge, understanding, and exploration of all that we encounter. It beckons us to rediscover the innate curiosity we possessed as children, urging us to engage with every passing moment with genuine interest and to immerse ourselves in our current endeavours solely for the joy they bring

Emotions are the aspects of our existence that long to fully embrace each experience, to feel it in every fiber of our being. What do I find satisfying? What is enjoyable for me? What is my body’s current sensation and how can I attune my inner landscape?

Through experiencing something under defined or undefined circumstances, a profound transformation occurs at our core. Why label something that transends verbal description? How do we interconnect the fragments of our actions to eventually compose an artistic masterpiece?

There will be moments when you feel disconnected. It's merely an illusion, a mind’s game. A connection is always present, even when you've erected walls of protection. But even these barriers can be valuable tools. Everything can serve as useful material that may catalyse action and create new opportunities for communication

The potential for something transformative exists everywhere and at all times. In our everyday lives, we often overlook or underutilize it. It offers us an opportunity to attentively listen to anything happeing around us and transform it to something else, using our semiotic and sensory body.

We got bones, flesh, joints, organs, skin, sensations (more than those we believe we have), opinions/ thoughts (more than those we realise we have). How can you rediscover all these using the always increasing knowledge that neuroscience and psychosomatic mechanics provides us?

Equally vital to all that has been mentioned is the nature of the artistic/healing space. Only a space meticulously crafted with care, inclusivity, cooperation, respect, and a sense of playfulness can truly foster creativity and support the artist/host.

YO has been developed based on John Britton's Self With Others (SWO) performing technique, the founder of the DUENDE artistic collective.

Yo Art: The artistic incarnation of YO. Apart from SWO, it draws influence from Viewpoints, 5 Zones, MUSA, Grotowski's technique, David Glass's teachings, Kate Duch teachings, ongoing contemporary neuroscience discoveries, and emotional theories
You can find here a short "Project Creation Guide" based on YO Method (for GR version go "here")

Yo Therapy: The therapeutic facet of YO. It is heavily influenced by Expansion Therapy, exSEL counseling, Flow theory, Vagus nerve Therapy, and Mindsight Therapy, among others.

Yo Teachers Training: A powerhouse designed to transform your approach to education. A blend of essential tools and personalized processes to elevate your current teaching methods to the next level.

YO Appropriate Spaces: Emphasizing intimacy, inclusiveness, vulnerability, and care within the YO framework. This aspect explores the domain of cooperative efforts within groups, shaping the conducive conditions and environment for creativity or productivity, all while liberating oneself from personal or collective limitations. It integrates principles from various practices and methods aimed at fostering "safe spaces" and enhancing the quality of respectful intimacy, including techniques like the "Wheel of Consent" and more.

Yo Art Testimonials

"Yoryos was a fun and professional facilitator, he helped us dive deep into an understanding of our own pathways to creativity. Then allowed us the opportunity to explore and express them through writing, art, dance and play acting. I would highly recommend that anyone who wants to uncover their artist within, to take this opportunity 😊"

- Julia A., Workshop participant

"It was delight to attend the inaugural “Embrace Your Inner Artist” week at Kalikalos in 2024 with Yoryos. Each day gave space to explore a foundation for developing a daily practise designed to support the inner expression of the creativity that is arising. Yoryos’ gentle invitation is to support the expression for each individual and I felt free to try out different modalities – The whole week was playful, grounded and connective. The process also developed my confidence to present an improvised, collaborative performance that was fun and freeing."

- Gauri M. G., Workshop Participant

"I loved the freedom in your workshop, the freedom to explore, the freedom to be yourself in that moment.
To explore writing, drawing, dancing… and all was just an expression I had at that moment.
No pressure to perform or succeed, or compete. Just show up as yourself and be.
Through this creation came and it was so fun to perform our impromptu play at the end for the community.
You were a wonderful facilitator, free, joyous and encouraging. Your enthusiasm showed us you are doing what you love to share.
Thank you Yoryos!"

Yo Therapy Testimonials

"I am profoundly grateful that George is my therapist! We have shared both pleasant and challenging moments, and I feel remarkably comfortable discussing myself with him. He inspires absolute trust and security in me. I sense his genuine care, his earnest effort to understand me, and his dedication to helping me comprehend and embrace myself to the fullest extent possible. I hope our therapeutic journey continues for as long as necessary, and I know with certainty that he will be there therapeutically in moments when I need him. Thank you, George. Your clients are fortunate to have you by their side. 🙏"

- Georgia I.

"The impetus for meeting George was my initial query: how to establish my profession in the closed society of a village. For a year, we "journeyed" together. He assisted me with novel techniques and provided me with the stimulus to think, organize, set goals, and establish implementation timelines. Consequently, I now know what steps to take. George, thank you for this journey. I want you to know that I still reflect on how wonderfully I experienced our sessions and how eagerly I anticipated the passing of days until our next meeting. Until our next journey together. Thank you."

- Sotiria V.

"With George Styl, I managed to reach levels of self-awareness that I never imagined I could approach in such a brief period. The results are visible in my daily life and in my way of thinking! Thank you so much, George... I hope this journey comes with a season ticket!"

- Natali A.
